My June Playlist

We are half way through the month and the weather is amazing! There is nothing better to compliment your G&T like these new summer releases. Here’s a roundup of my current June favourites.

Mr Jukes

Mr Jukes – Grant Green ft. Charles Bradley

My song of the summer, Jack Steadman has come back with a bang! Its soulful, funky and the video is fantastic. The perfect soundtrack to your summer BBQ’s.

Melodrama

Lorde – Melodrama

The highly anticipated second album from Lorde is sure to follow the success of its singles, particularly Green Light. After only a few plays I can already tell it will be on my most played. The Louvre being my top hit!

Cant Do

Everything Everything – Can’t Do

When Get to Heaven came out I had it on repeat, they have such a unique sound which I absolutely love. I cannot wait for A Fever Dream to come out and do the same again. In a press release Jonathan Higgs sums up the carefree feel of the song saying “‘Can’t Do’ is about trying to bend to the world and fit into it. Nobody is normal, nobody knows what normal is. ‘I can’t do the thing you want’ – we don’t care we just want you to dance”.

Yuk Foo

Wolf Alice – Yuk Foo

The first single from their upcoming album Visions of Life is a lot heavier than most of their previous album. It’s so good I ended up getting a ticket for a show in November! A song they’ll definitely expect to see you in the pit for!

The Man

The Killers – The Man

After waiting since 2012, I am so excited for a new Killers record. I am already seeing them at their British Summer Time show in a couple of weeks, so hearing their new single this week was great!  I have always preferred their earlier material and of The Man definitely has more of a feel of this. Hopefully not too long until the album release of Wonderful Wonderful.

How did we get so dark

Royal Blood – How Did We Get So Dark?

While I have not yet listened to the album, I have loved the single Lights Out. After missing their first tour I’m counting down the days to seeing the duo in November.
